Just To Get A Rep

This one here was inspired by my homegirl @arounddawaygyrl (Thats her twitter handle if you arent hip to twitter just yet). So she sends out the tweet with the link and I clicked on it and I was just blown away. I just cant fathom how or why you’d want yourself to be seen like this!

And so it got me to thinking…..in this age of youtube and reality tv stars, it’s not really that hard to make yourself “famous” for all the wrong reasons if that’s what your main objective is. You have the “Why Must I Cry” dude, the “In The Butt” dude *pause*, cant forget T-Baby singing bout how cold it is “In The D“, and even the classic joint by Tay Zondray “Chocolate Rain” (37 million hits and counting!) that got him on The Jimmy Kimmel show!

Least we mention the pure Niggerdom of such joints as “Fry That Chicken“, “Let Me Smell Yo Dick” and so on and so forth.

I guess my point of this all is……is fame THAT alluring? To the point that you will shame your family name to be “famous”? I cant imagine being an internet smash singing “Why Must I Cry” and then going to the family reunion and being proud of that shit. My granny Ms. Evelyn (God rest her soul) woulda told me about myself in a way that woulda included lots and lots of cuss words. im sure these people got kids. Who the hell wants to be known as the kid whose mama sang “Let Me Smell Yo Dick”?

I dunno yall. Maybe Im bugging out. Maybe I got it all wrong. Just doesnt seem to me that it’s all worth it in the end. The end justifies the means they say. But is it really like that?

Inspiration : @arounddawaygyrl, the viral videos, and the fools who aint got enough common sense NOT to make ‘em.

I think that people are seeing these average people like Kim Kardashian etc who got fame off sex tapes and they feel like they should jump on the bandwagon to become famous.

FAME is alluring, everyone knows your name (no matter what it is for) and you feel like somebody….lets be real if you felt like somebody in the first place you would find a creative and not a shameful way to be known and not ‘famous’…

Everyone wants to be a star…thanks for making me famous ;)

I think all people at some point or another (from childhood to adulthood) have wanted to be or dreamed about being famous, because of the way it is glorified by society. For me, I always wanted to be famous so that I could meet Michael Jackson & Prince ha ha ha. It had nothing to do with me being famous for being known or to have people screaming and going goo goo gaa gaa over me. I wanted it for the “perks” that being famous (seemingly) had to offer (which for me was meeting any damn body I wanted to - that’s what it basically meant to me).

But for some people it’s an unhealthy obsession, because they feel that fame, being known, loved, adored, or linked to “famous” people (and I use that word very loosely) is the only way some find purpose and meaning for their existence, which is very sad because they lack self-confidence and long to be loved and admired by not just a few very important people - but by thousands.

Some believe that people who actively seek fame for fames sake are longing for some attention and love that was perhaps lacking in childhood. Since they are unable to obtain those things from people they know, they seek to obtain it from complete strangers…how else can you explain the world’s fascination with YouTube, MySpace, or Twitter and how many followers they have?

Meanwhile, at the end of the day, all I have to say is this: If aaaaaaaany of the above videos contain a family member of mine - I would disown them with a quickness *smirk*

Great Blog - Enjoyed as Always :o)

Raydio’s been doing these things ‘tastefully’, right? “Lookin Boy” was the tip of that iceberg. But I know you knew that already.

AND… I don’t think they seek attention. People just need ways to express themselves. Can’t please all the people all the time!

    Hmph!

  6. BTT Says:

LOLOLOL!! Ummm how did you find “What What In My Butt”?? *pause* lmao

  7. Red Mitchell Says:

Plan and simple man, if you don’t know by now anything negative gets all the attention…like this bolg..If you really wanna help ya girl take her links DOWN….Or is this a BS..SETUP…cause you already know Negativity gets all the fame.

  8. Carliney Says:

ok, hold up. all those videos are all garbage except Ms. Peachez. she’s the truth.

    LMAO!

  9. Nikki Wadley Says:

Too bad there will still be idiots making fools out of themselves for 14 1/2 minutes of fame!

All of these videos disturbed my spirit - deeply. Now I understand why, when my grandmother sees something foolish, she says with conviction, “LAWD HAVE MERCY!” Un-freeggin-believable! It is the nature of society today. You can’t pay me to believe that 15 years ago when a lot of us were in high school, seeing our peers do things like this would be okay. It’s kind of like how a lot of these youngsters sit at home and play video games day in and day out, back in the day, you were a nerd if you did that. It’s obvious, the fathers are missing in the home, and for some, the mothers too. The sad part is, people will watch this and think ALL black people act all niggerish like that! No, the price is fame is not worth all of this. None of these people are famous - everybody is just laughing at them at the moment.
