We gots paper to party
Maybe not enough to pay
the phone bill in full
But we gots paper to party!
Becuz ni&&as looooove to party
Didnt think Chocolate City

but what do you know?
We finna swear in our
first black president
so what else is there to do
but party?
Becuz ni&&as looooove to party

Inspiration : My fear that the Inauguration will turn into All-Star Weekend and Freaknik knowing that the day is waaaaaaay too important for that!

I heard that its not even enough room for all the people, buses, cars etc…. but its a big moment for “us” and hopefully it will be a tasteful celebration.

  2. cdsimo Says:

Couldn’t agree more with you and Brandy. It is truly a time for celebrartion but as long as it is in taste with the nature of the event. Hopefully that is not forgotten!!

  3. cdsimo Says:

I must admit though that I wish my broke butt could’ve gone!! :)

  4. Sylvetta Says:

Of course we are partying! This is a cause for celebration. The thought of this turning into something negative never crossed my mind. On election night in grant park happy people crowded the streets, this occasion is much too grand for that nonsense.

  5. Don Dada Says:

Man listen… you right TJ. It will be madness out there. There are some who need to be there for business networking and business development, I get that. But man… are all of these “Inauguration Parties” really necessary?

And, while we are on the topic… let us not forget that on January 21, 2009, he is President Obama… which means he is a politician. We better be as critical of him as we would any politician. We cannot, we better not assume anything… we must keep fighting!!!

And maybe just a lil less partying…

  6. Sandria Says:

Your inspiration for this post is right on point

  7. Tondalaya Says:

Way too important is correct! Tuesday January 20th is George W. Bush’s last day in office and believe you me I want to throw a party. But he was in office for the last 8 years so there ain’t no money to throw no party! But, I would if I could. But I can’t so I ain’t. Instead I’m going to pay my savings account. Peace!

  8. Mz. Shenita Says:

Teej! you hit it on the head!!! Yes, We will find any reason to party and be off work.

Yes this is a Historic Moment, Not only for The Black people, but for the American People.

I just pray that when they get to chocolate city, that folks don’t start acting a fool!

Also, Teej, you should have mention the money t-shirt companies, poster companies and the little Towel, socks, and water dudes that are on the busy intersections of 87th and the Dan Ryan, and 95th and Stony Island making major loot from this historic event!

And don’t go into Hyde Park Walgreens, if anything you want Barack Obama, they have it!

This is another way for as you say Ni&&as can make a dollar!

Yes Barack Obama is US First Black President, but do you think we as the people should be capitalizing off this??

Instead of trying to make a buck we should be concern and have our prayers with Him, because he has a lot on his plate!

So as we celebrate this commemorative and historic moment, please keep in mind the true reason the people chose him to lead this nation.

  9. Dotty Says:

I totally agree. We need to realize that it’s time for all of us to work.

  10. Kai Says:

How about preparing for the name transition first. We can’t be walking around calling him anything other than MR. PRESIDENT. Do you think people understand that? As far as the party goes… let us put into the Universe that his presence will breed a new class.

  11. Lesley Says:

This post was dope and timely. I hear your concerns and I share them. Let’s hope folks act like they got some home training next week.
