It’s Called Progress… (Because This Cant Be The End All Be All)

I’m not quite sure as to whether that was the revolution
that wasn’t supposed to be televised on my TV the other night
But if it was indeed the revolution
then that don’t make liars of The Last Poets
Just means they were a bit off I guess

More than likely it was the start of the revolution
The opening credits if you will
Not the closing ones
There is still work to be done

So now that the partying is over
and the reality of it all has begun to sink in…..
Are you ready to work and keep it going?

Has this great inspiration and leader of a man named Barack
lit a fire under your ass or what?

Because this cant be the end all be all

This simply can not be the apex
It’s called progress and it doesn’t stop

For all those that came before us and sacrificed
with their loves and lives this milestone is for them
but it doesn’t end here

There is still many a heart filled with hatred out there
but we must not let them get in the way of our progress
for they know no better and are only acting out the last
of the hate that hate produced

It’s a new day yall
One dream has been realized and so another begins
My TiTi is gonna grow up in a world
where a black president is not unheard of
It’s called progress and it doesn’t stop

Because this cant be the end all be all

Inspiration : Barack Obama, living to see this moment, appreciation for all those that came before and made this possible, and the fact that my nieceTeren is gonna grow up in this world and not be so surprised at the notion of a black president

honey, this was the call to action! those who have been planning & strategizing & organizing are just waiting for us to enlist & serve. it took vision & faith to make this happen. it took believing in the seemingly impossible! it took courage. it took love.

so now what? find a project. find a cause. support an organization. give of yourself. take action. be bold.

the new first family literally have put their lives on the line, and all we have to do to say thank you is be in action.

my cause is the youth. I am up to bringing transformation to teens in our community. I invite you and the rest of the world to join me!

i am still getting choked up 3 days later… whenever i see his name or pictures of his beautiful family… a beautiful wife and two children… a wife and children that look nothing like video hoe’s or this months smooth magazine cover… not that there is anything wrong with that but.. well that’s what makes the money in our communities and that’s what’s been representing us “at our best”… sorta… I mean there is Always Oprah and Will and Jada…. but The Obama family is the First Family that will Officially Presidentially Rep THIS ENTIRE COUNTRY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA… Paris Hilton is not the Princess of the United States anymore… The Bush Daugters Run a Muck are not the Royalty of This Country any more…. Be honest.. Since JFK and Jackie… have you seen a more Regal and Worthy First Family?? Do you think for ONE minute that Michelle will allow her daughters to be out in daisy dukes, smoking, drinking, dancing, snorting… sans panties…. for the entire Globe to see? No because she and Barack wouldn’t have it even if they weren’t in the White House….. Teej I could go on for about 3 more hours on how this moment and the momentum makes me feel… but I will end on this note… I haven’t been late to work or meetings since November 4th… i dont believe in CP time anylonger… strange huh? I just can’t bring myself to be late or excuse the behavior of our young black brothers killin’ each other any more.. because truly ALL the world especially the jilted McCain and Palin supporters are watching us… they are watching to see how we act.. or how we act up?…. When we said “I am Obama” and stood in line and took our nation back…. Those words were ALIVE and breathing… We ARE Obama… so roll up your sleeves and Act accordingly.

The emotion has been overwhelming but so invigorating. My fear is that our children will have the unique opportunity to have experienced this profound event but not really know why it’s so profound. I am trying to educate my seven-year old on the importance of this time and what this means to us. Not just US but all of US.

We must lead by example more now than ever. This is the first time in my lifetime that I have experienced such emotion because Dr. King was taken from us the year that I was born.

If I didn’t understand before, I really understand now. Let’s pray for understanding in our youth and for peace in our future.

Action is definitely the next step.

    Peace - Love - OBAMA

** sigh ** I am relieved that I am not the only one out here saying hold on wait a minute.., there is still work to do! I couldn’t go to sleep Tuesday night without writing an email to remind my family and friends that “this is not the change we seek. This only helps to make the change we seek possible.” Everybody told me to take a day and just enjoy the moment but I couldn’t. Not only is there still work to be done. THERE IS SO MUCH WORK TO BE DONE!

I could write an essay on the work to be done but instead I ask all of you to just think about it. Just one simple example: If the President & CEO of the company is a Black woman but the Director of HR is a prejudice, racist bigot what does that lead to?

The current vote tally: President-elect Obama received 65.5 Mil or so votes (more than any president has EVER received). But, don’t forget McCain received 57.6 Mil or so. Now just for the record, people who voted for McCain were not racist (not all of them). Some of my friends, yes I still call them friends, are counted in that number for McCain. But some of those voters are just down right racist and were not afraid to say it to TV cameras when given the opportunity. Did you read some of those comments on youtube under the video? Scary stuff.

My friends, as McCain would say, we have come along way, but we still have a ways to go! I’m not sure what this means for mankind but this is a gigantic leap for man! YES T.J. “this cannot be the end”. There IS still work to do but we CAN do it. YES WE CAN!

    OK end of essay.

I agree!! the movement for “Change” for all of us starts now with in your networks of friends and family! if you have’nt already been involved with your community it is time to get involved. It took alot of strength and courage, persistance, and leadership skills that Obama has delivered to us as “Americans” We need to step up and assist him with “OUR CHANGE” as Americans!!!!!!

I am very excited about my movement in South Florida… My partner and I started a women’s group “Leading Ladies Leage” We are about to launch within the month and are steady working on our website and network within the community. Today was a great day, We assisted a lady who is a foster parent of 8; she lost her house due to an electrical fire and the kids were taking away from her. We raised money to assist her family and presented it to her today during lunch. It was the best feeling ever!!!

Get involved, help others, people need you more than you know! Let’s assist our president as he deserves the unity of America to step in and “Change” the mess we all have been acustomed to. YES WE CAN!! AND WE WILL !!!

    Warmly,

It’s all SUCH an inspiration, I am truly not the same….

I still feel like I’m dreaming tho. But during campaign time, seeing all the White ppl wearing Obama shirts EVERYWHERE told me inside that this could REALLY happen….and IT DID! WiggedyWoooooow!

He’s definitely got some SERIOUS cleaning up to do! I will certainly be paying more attention to politics now. I think he’s brought a new political awareness to all Blacks who never cared before, it’s all positive. He’s amazing!

I actually been prayin’ every day that no one tries to hurt him, we all should…

    I’M READY!!!!!!!!!!
