“Never have I felt so sure about anything in my life, but I feel so sure and positive about this thing called music.” –Natassja

Her voice puts you in a trance of tranquility. Her flow takes you to another world. Close your eyes and experience the Kozmik Soul of Atlanta, Georgia’s finest Neo-Soul artist. InChiCity (Chicago) introduces you to Natassja.

At age 23, Natassja is ready to line her face with the greats of Neo-Soul. Her spirit is humble and welcoming this stage of her life with a smile and gracious heart. “Everyone used to always tell me that I had a really unique sound.” That sound is one of silky, deep, and sensual vocals leading into a mystery of melodies supported by guitar strings and piano chords.

The vibe is all-around smooth.

With the July 2008 release of her 5-track EP entitled, Flow “The Birth of Kozmik Soul”, on the independent label Hi Lyfe Recordings, Natassja is already feeling the love and appreciation from fans all over. “I’m a member of a lot of social and networking sites, so people from all over the world are receiving my music and for people to be putting the word out like they have been, I really appreciate that,” she shares.

The ATL is a place that has become most popular for it’s krunk sounds, heavy bass, booty shakers and high rollers. When it comes to music, “The Dirty South” is the place to be. What is not broadcasted in the mainstream are the undergrounds of Soul music.

“Believe it or not Atlanta has a huge neo-soul base here. There’s a lot of local underground talent. It’s really the best of both worlds ‘cause ATL is like the new Motown of the South, ” states Natassja.

The new “Motown of the South” is what has landed Natassja a place on the ever-evolving music spectrum.

The beginning stages of a destined singer and songwriter came in to play while Natassja was in her adolescent years. She linked up with music producer and guitar griot, Sinclair Davis, who worked with various artists in Atlanta and brought Natassja on as a writer for a few of them. That opportunity opened her eyes to the yearning for a solo career.

“When I started writing for Sinclair, I was writing hooks for rappers. He was working with the artist P.E.S.O on Universal and also another rap group from Atlanta. So I just started writing hooks because I wanted to keep writing. When I started, the better I got and I knew that eventually I wanted to become an artist.”

Once the desire to become an artist manifested and presented itself as the direction towards which she would dedicate her life, she wrote even more and was all game whenever Sinclair needed a dope hook or needed her to pen a new track.

“With all the darkness, there must have been some glory. The tribulations of my Concrete Story…”—Natassja “Concrete Story”

When the realization hit and really set in Natassja’s heart, the outcome was the smooth but troublesome, “Concrete Story.” “I was doing a lot of stuff for Sinclair and I was kind of getting a little frustrated and I was trying to give him a little hint that I wanted to work on my own music. I just wasn’t saying it out loud. The last song I did, “Concrete Story,” was supposed to be an intro for P.E.S.O. I remember writing that and when I wrote it I was a little angry. It came out really good! When I listened to it I was like “Wow” that’s really me,” she shares with excitement and a smile peaking through the phone receiver.

Since then she’s been concentrating on the content and finding the appropriate niche as far as her writing style. “I started writing everyday.” She even records while she’s driving. “I would be driving and coming up with tunes and melodies. I bought one of those recorders that have the beat recordings on it and I can record while I’m in the car!”

Dedication is very apparent.

Her time has arrived and with her strong and supportive management team, Blaqberri Management, Natassja is destined for great success. The plan is to become an international success. “What my camp is doing, is trying to build an international appeal.

In September, she and her manager attended “The International Soul Music Circuit” and were amongst an audience of local talent. While participating in one of the forums for the international aspect of music, she discovered that out of the pool of talent present, she and another artist from Germany were the only people gaining music play internationally. Social and networking sites are the way to go.

“I am so grateful for my manager, her daily goals are everything Natassja and just getting my project out by any means necessary!”

Currently, she’s in the studio and writing everyday preparing for the release of her first full studio album. “The album still has the similarity to “Flow”, it’s still Natassja, but the direction and sound has evolved and is a lot more soulful.” Natassja is in a good place emotionally and artistically.

“I’m just really humbled by the whole experience. Every time somebody says your music inspired me this way or I was playing it for my man the other night, and he was like “who was that?” Every time I hear that, it just warms my heart and I’m like ‘wow’ people really like it and I’m obviously getting the message across and that’s a beautiful thing ‘cause that’s really what it’s all about.”

“Kozmik Soul” is the style of her music; spacey tunes that can place you in a fantasy world with just enough soul to relax and put you at ease.

**While the title of her Debut album is still being debated, fans can look forward to more music in the spring of 2009!
